We have 5 sections of 2nd grade at Flint Lake this year! The five 2nd grade teachers, along with our special education teacher, Mrs. Rogers, work closely as a team to meet the needs of every child, every day!

Welcome to second grade at Flint Lake!
Book Clubs
Your student will have an opportunity to work with teachers across the pod while exploring text at and above their reading level. We will meet readers at their level through our book clubs and encourage them to grow as readers through enrichment and extension activities.
Festivals
In 2nd grade, we celebrate the changing seasons with 3 seasonal festivals. These festivals incorporate reading, writing, math, science, and art activities with a seasonal theme. This is one of our largest parent volunteer events! Look for information to come home in October, January, and April!
Through a Common Core aligned, inquiry based approach, the Bridges Math curriculum uses many manipulatives, games, and higher order thinking questions to make math both fun and meaningful for students. Watch your child grow as a problem solver!
Bridges Math
The most anticipated activities of 2nd grade are the Fairy Tale Plays. Following a unit on fairy tales, folktales, and fables, each 2nd grade class puts on a fairy tale play, complete with costumes, scenery, and line memorization. You won't want to miss it!
